Simic: In the Zvecan municipal building, icons desecrated, eyes scratched out
Member of the Presidency of the Serb List Igor Simic shared photographs of desecrated icons that newly elected mayor Dragisa Milovic and councilors found in the offices of the Zvecan municipality. According to him, these offices had been used by members of the special units of the Kosovo Police after their incursion into the municipal building.
“When Mayor Dragisa Milovic and our councilors entered the Zvecan municipal building yesterday, they encountered horrifying scenes, especially in the offices used by the special units of the Kosovo Police. Trash, devastated offices, destroyed valuable works of art. What particularly shocked all our representatives were the desecrated icons, thrown on the floor, with the eyes of the painted saints scratched out. Why???”, Simic wrote.
Mayor of North Mitrovica Milan Radojevic said today that the condition in the municipal buildings that the new mayors found was “sad, disappointing, and catastrophic.”
“That shows the attitude of Pristina toward the Serbian people and the citizens of these four municipalities. As you know, the building in the Zvecan municipality is in extremely poor, catastrophic condition, with missing paintings of exceptional value. In addition, the icons are damaged, with the eyes of the saints on these icons scratched out, truly a very sad and disappointing scene that our colleagues encountered,” he said.
