Spahiu: The Srebrenica Resolution will lead to reconciliation in the Balkans

The Srebrenica Resolution cannot raise tensions in the region, university professor Nexhmedin Spahiu says for Kosovo Online and emphasizes that there is nothing wrong with adopting other, similar resolutions, such as the announced Jasenovac Resolution.

"A resolution cannot raise tensions, given that it is an evil that happened and with which the Serbian people will have to come to terms, and it is an evil committed by members of that nation," Spahiu assesses.

He adds that if Serbian society accepts this, it will lead to reconciliation and much healthier relations between neighbors in the Balkans.

"This is something that should make it clear that one cannot turn a blind eye to what happened. And if it is accepted as an evil that was committed, it is a guarantee that it will not be repeated in the future," our interlocutor believes.

He also has nothing against the adoption of other, similar resolutions.

"There is nothing wrong with adopting such resolutions about Jasenovac and anywhere else where evil was committed. I mean, it does not have to be seen as a counter-reaction. Simply, the peoples here in the Balkans must condemn evil," Spahiu concludes.
