University professor Nexhmedin Spahiu is convinced that the new US President, Donald Trump, will not change US policy toward Kosovo, pointing to what he describes as Trump's "strong message of support" on the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence.

"If we look at the message Trump sent to President Vjosa Osmani on the 17th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence, it was a strong message of support. He called Kosovo a determined and persistent nation, something even Kosovo’s own leaders don’t say about Kosovo," Spahiu said.

He added that former US Envoy Richard Grenell shares similar views but differs from Trump in his stance toward Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

"He made some provocative remarks about Albin Kurti, though he didn’t mention him directly, instead, he praised Hashim Thaci, which is essentially a direct attack on Kurti. However, it was still support for Kosovo as a state," Spahiu believes.
