Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has indicted Z. P. on charges of war crimes

The Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has indicted Z. P. on charges of war crimes, as reported by Reporteri.

According to a statement from the Special Prosecutor's Office, investigations have proven that the accused Z.P., who was armed and uniformed, in collusion with other members of the Serbian police and military, participated in the killing, wounding, mass deportation, and looting of civilian citizens of Albanian nationality.

The prosecutor has proposed that the trial be conducted in absentia, as the accused is on the run.

“The Special Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kosovo today filed an indictment with the Basic Court in Pristina – special department against the accused Z.P., sanctioned under Article 142 in connection with Article 22 of the Criminal Law of the SFRY. Investigations have proven that the accused Z.P., who was armed and uniformed, in collusion with other members of the Serbian police and military, participated in the killing, wounding, mass deportation, and looting of civilian citizens of Albanian nationality who did not participate in the war. The state prosecutor has proposed that the trial be conducted in absentia, since the accused is on the run,” the statement said.

It is added that the Special Prosecutor's Office “remains committed to prosecuting crimes committed during the war in Kosovo, to ensure justice for the victims and accountability for their perpetrators, in accordance with international standards.”
