Tahiri: The idea of the CSM originated in Ahtisaari's plan
The former chief negotiator in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Edita Tahiri, pointed out that the Community of Serb Municipalities idea had already been presented in Ahtisaari's plan and that the Law on Local Self-Government foresaw that communities of municipalities could exist in Kosovo, Lajmi net portal reported.
"The Community was not born in Brussels either in 2013 or 2015. It was born in Vienna, and Ahtisaari's plan included it. The Law on Local Self-Government says that there can be more than one community of municipalities in Kosovo", Tahiri said.
As she added, the issue of the CSM was in the hands of Prime Minister Albin Kurti because he had come to power by opposing it.
Tahiri emphasized that Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and PM Kurti had to mention at the meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron that the Franco-German plan for Kosovo-Serbia relations should be based essentially on the Elysée Agreement.
"Every detail is observed when you are in serious processes. There is no need to show it to Macron or others. They always have Serbia, Kosovo, and the processes in mind, because together with the US and Germany, France is also mediating. Therefore, they monitor the situation, and as a party, you can talk and lobby, but you have to respect and consider that the mediating party has its own observations about those processes", Tahiri noted.
