The Chairman of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Nexhat Uglanin, confirmed to Kosovo Online that during today's emergency session, it had been voted to allocate the parcels and buildings of the Kosovska Mitrovica district, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO), and the Fire Department to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a period of 99 years.

Uglanin stated that during today's emergency session, two items on the agenda had been voted on: the budget framework for 2025 and the allocation of municipal property to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"It was voted to give the land to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a 99-year usage period, with twelve votes in favor and one against. The parcels and buildings used by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, the PIO Fund, and the Fire Department, including the yard and garages, were allocated. These are four parcels that are municipally owned. After a request from the mayor's office and the mayor himself, it was submitted to the assembly for a vote, and the assembly approved the request," he explained.

Although the request did not specify the purpose of the land, Uglanin mentioned that signs had already been placed on the buildings before today's session.

"Indeed, the purpose wasn't explicitly stated in the request, but it is already visible, as even before the usage rights were granted, signs for the Ministry of Returns and Communities and the Ministry of Finance and Transfers have been put up, and most likely there will be another ministry – the Ministry of Internal Affairs," Uglanin said.
