The US administration shares the Congress's concern about the increased tensions in the north of Kosovo, it was stated in the White House's response to the Voice of America, regarding the letter of the American senators to the President of the United States, Joseph Biden, regarding the situation in Kosovo.

"US government officials, including the White House and the State Department, are working closely with European Union partners to find a diplomatic solution to recent events. They have asked the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia to de-escalate and refocus on implementing the normalization agreements that were signed during the year", it was stated in the response of the spokesperson of the National Security Council of the White House.

It is added that they clearly indicated that the normalization of relations, participation in democratic processes and respect for the rule of law will contribute to stability and security in the north of Kosovo.

Two days ago, a group of eight senators sent a letter to Biden regarding Kosovo, in which they called on him to exert diplomatic pressure in order to end the current crisis, to continue the dialogue and the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, and stated that Kosovo did not reciprocate the US efforts to de-escalate the crisis, which is why they were ready to reconsider support for Pristina.

They also requested that the administration submit a report to the Senate confirming that both governments are acting with restraint in order to avoid any unnecessary actions that undermine the security of US forces in KFOR.

"We do not see the recent episode of tensions as temporary in bilateral relations; we see this as a decisive moment in the trajectory of US relations with both countries. If the basic building blocks of relations are not reciprocated, we invite you to consider further steps to limit those relations with these two countries," the senators wrote in the letter.
