US Embassy in Pristina: Kosovo Constitution and laws guarantee representation of Kosovo Serbs in institutions
The US Embassy in Pristina said that it expected the Kosovo Government to ensure that Kosovo Serbs had equal opportunities and were able to participate fully in Kosovo’s political and civic life.
Commenting on the decision of the Kosovo Judicial Council to reject the request by Serbian judges and court staff to withdraw their resignations and return to the judicial system, the US Embassy in Pristina stressed in a response to Kosovo Online that Kosovo’s Constitution and laws guaranteed the representation of Kosovo Serbs in Kosovo institutions.
“Kosovo’s Constitution and laws guarantee the representation of Kosovo Serbs in Kosovo institutions. We expect the Government of Kosovo to ensure that Kosovo Serbs have equal opportunities and are able to participate fully in Kosovo’s political and civic life. We will continue to advocate for this,” the Embassy stated.
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said that, by rejecting the request of Serbian judges and administrative staff to return to the institutions, the Kosovo Judicial Council had unlawfully derailed the reintegration process, describing the EU’s role in undermining that process as hypocritical and deceitful.
