Vasic: The decision to cancel the dinar will make the work of the humanitarian organization "Kosovsko Pomoravlje" more difficult

Marija Vasic from the humanitarian organization "Kosovsko Pomoravlje" points out that Prishtina's decision to ban the dinar in Kosovo will make their work more difficult, but that they will continue with plans and actions in 2024 as well, reports RTS.

Scholarships for students and high school students from Kosovo is the main goal of the organization.

From her native Jagodina, Vasic went to Belgrade to study, and with a diploma from the Faculty of Political Sciences to Kosovo, where together with members of the humanitarian organization "Kosovsko Pomoravlje" she helps people, especially young people, every day, so that life in the southern Serbian province would be, to some extent, easier and better.

She out that the decision of the authorities in Pristina to ban the use of dinars on the territory of Kosovo will make it significantly more difficult for humanitarian organizations to do business because they will have to do any withdrawals in Gnjilan or Vranje.

"It takes too much time, someone will have to set aside a whole day to finish such things that would otherwise be finished along the way. But people who do business and the elderly are the two most vulnerable categories," Vasic says.

Nevertheless, the humanitarian organization continues with its plans in 2024, which rely on all the actions carried out during the previous year, in which several sports fields were opened in Serbian areas in Kosovo, several parks were arranged and scholarships were distributed to young people.

"Last year, we launched very important projects that are needed by children and young people in Kosovo and Metohija. It is primarily a student and high school student scholarship project, which provides help to students, high school students and their families," Vasic points out.

She mentions the opening of basketball schools in Partes as an important project because, as she says, sports for children in Kosovo are underdeveloped.

"We decided to focus on things like this and to somehow protect young people with the madness that is happening to us by providing them with a more or less normal childhood, primarily through education," emphasizes Vasic.

Last year, "Kosovsko Pomoravlje" awarded scholarships to 20 students and high school students, and the plan is that in 2024 there will be even more people who will receive financial assistance, which is why the organization invites everyone who can contribute to invite them.

"We connect donors directly with scholarship recipients and, in addition to material assistance, assistance in the form of business practice or counseling is also possible," concludes Vasic.
