Vucevic: Dialogue is the only solution for Belgrade, but Kurti will not stop because he wants Kosovo without the Serbs

Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said before the new round of negotiations in Brussels that for Belgrade dialogue was the only way to solve the problem, but that the situation was difficult because, as he stated, Albin Kurti's regime did not hesitate to show force and only deals with mistreatment of the Serbs.

"They continue to arrest Serbs on some old indictments; we had 15 attacks on Serbian children, the same number of attempts to prevent the functioning of the country's health system, and countless attacks on religious buildings. The blockade of Serbian products has been going on for three months; we are trying in various ways to prevent the shortage of medicine. In such a difficult atmosphere, we continue to show goodwill and try to continue the dialogue. And most importantly - to preserve peace. The task of Serbia is to preserve the Serbian community and churches in Kosovo and Metohija because when they exist, there is also Serbia," Vucevic said for Kurir.

Speaking about what the Serbs from Kosovo could expect in the coming period and how far the authorities in Pristina could go, Vucevic pointed out that it was difficult to make optimistic assessments as long as Kurti was where he was.

"Every day, Albin Kurti's regime deals only with the mistreatment of Serbs and does everything to make life difficult for them. The basis of Kurti's policy is to ethnically cleanse Kosovo of the Serbs, and he is trying to achieve this by means of various tools, and pressures, endangering the lives of the Serbs. Kurti will not stop. I'm afraid that there will be further escalation on the field because I don't see an iota of will on the part of his associates and him to give up their goals," Vucevic said.

He also pointed out that Serbia would not allow the Serbs to leave their centuries-old hearths.

"We are doing everything to help them, to encourage and strengthen them. The coming days and weeks will be difficult. After Brussels, President Vucic will travel to the session of the United Nations General Assembly. I hope that an objective assessment will be made of who is causing unrest and conflicts in Kosovo and Metohija, and who does not take part in that. Serbia is neither a provocateur, nor is it in its interest to constantly create conflicts, but is firmly on the side of international law and the UN Charter," Vucevic said.
