Vucic: The arrest of Popovic shows that Kurti wants incidents and conflicts in the Western Balkans
The arrest of the Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Igor Popovic, shows that Albin Kurti has lost his mind and wants to provoke incidents and conflicts in the Western Balkans, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said this evening.
“We have far greater problems than blockades and those who create them — the behavior of Albin Kurti in Kosovo and Metohija, the persecution and expulsion of our people. The recent arrest of Igor Popovic shows that Kurti has completely lost his mind and that he wants to provoke incidents and conflicts in the Western Balkans,” Vucic emphasized on TV Pink.
He stated that Serbia has informed all of its partners and will inform all of its friends about the situation.
“This could have unforeseeable consequences. But we will always fight to preserve peace and stability, although we will respond in a very, very firm and strong manner. This terror must come to an end at some point,” Vucic stressed.
Assistant Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Igor Popovic, who was detained at Brnjak due to statements he made about the KLA at a memorial for Serbian victims killed in Orahovac, was today ordered by a court in Pristina to be held in custody for 30 days.
Popovic was detained on Friday evening, and yesterday he was placed in 48-hour police custody.
Today, he was brought to the court in Pristina in handcuffs. His hearing before the Special Department of the Basic Court in Pristina lasted about an hour and a half.
After the court ordered a 30-day detention, Popovic was transferred to the detention facility in Gnjilane.
