Vucic: Concerned about the alliance of Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo; Pristina seeking additional weapons from the US and Turkey

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he is very concerned about the military alliance of Albania, Croatia, and Kosovo, stressing that this is not a military-technical alliance and warning that a defensive alliance can turn into an offensive one in a single day. He stated that he has information about new plans and requests by Pristina for additional weapons from the United States and Turkey.

“As the President of Serbia, I am very concerned about the military alliance of Tirana, Zagreb, and Pristina. Do not forget, this is not a military-technical alliance, for military-technical cooperation. With that, apart from Pristina, I would have no problem at all. This is a military alliance. It is created for defense or for offensive actions against certain territories. That defensive alliance can turn into an offensive one in a single day,” Vucic said.

He stated that Serbia was aware of certain meetings they had held and of their activities, noting that Belgrade immediately received information about the meeting, although it was informed with a two-day delay because there was an attempt to keep it secret.

He said that Serbia is asking why and against whom this alliance was formed.

“Why did you form it? You are all in NATO, Croatia and Albania, Pristina is not, so the question additionally arises as to how you formed an alliance with them. What is especially worrying is that we know about new plans and requests by Pristina, which will seek additional weapons from the United States and Turkey. I am learning from Pristina that they will request Hawk systems, for which they have not yet received approval. They will seek additional Javelins and more weapons from Turkey. I have the complete list,” Vucic emphasized.

He pointed out that they are holding discussions at the level of all three entities about all directions of attack and defense.

“We have significant intelligence data on this. Citizens do not need to worry, because the strength of the Serbian army is increasing day by day at a geometric rate,” Vucic underlined.

He said that yesterday he had very important talks and that Serbia is purchasing the most modern equipment, of a kind that no country or only one country in Europe currently has.

“I worry every day and night. I do not underestimate anyone at all. There is no easy way for us. It will be difficult for us, but it will be even more difficult for them,” the President of Serbia said.

A change in policy – everyone relies on bilateral instead of multilateral agreements

Vucic pointed out that there has been a change in the global political paradigm and that everyone now relies on bilateral rather than multilateral agreements.

As he noted, everyone has started to care only about themselves, which is why they rely on bilateral agreements.

“There has been a complete change in the political paradigm as we knew it. Everything in the world has changed and will continue to change,” Vucic underlined.

He is convinced that US-European relations will never again be what they were in the 1990s and the 2000s.

“That divergence in interests and goals began back during Barack Obama’s time, only more quietly in diplomatic terms, and continued during Biden’s tenure. Trump merely laid that policy bare and said ‘America first’,” Vucic explained.

He announced that he will have strong diplomatic activity this month.

In the coming days, he will travel on an official visit to Turkey, followed by the Munich Security Conference, where, as he said, he will have a bilateral meeting with the head of Chinese diplomacy.

On February 15, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will visit Serbia.

After that, Vucic will travel to India, and upon returning to Belgrade he will host European officials. Following that, the President of Serbia will travel on a visit to Kazakhstan.
