Vucic: The CSM is needed everywhere in Kosovo where the Serbs live
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, pointed out that it was very important for Serbia that the agreements reached in the dialogue were clearly mentioned in the annex to the agreement.
"You saw when the meeting ended; I didn't say a single bad word about the other side. But Kurti appeared and said that they had Ahtisaari's plan. We are not interested in that, we did not adopt Ahtisaari's plan, and it is not part of the dialogue. Kurti stated their three pillars, which had not been accepted, for the formation of the CSM. I said that it was not a problem and that I could leave immediately. They have signatures here, on four agreements, which concern the CSM. We have signatures; somewhere by Thaci, somewhere by Mustafa, and somewhere Dacic's signature, somewhere my signature, in 2015. And the document from 2015, which talks about principles, is particularly important," he said.
Vucic added that the Serbs in Kosovo south of the Ibar lived in a ghetto, adding that the CSM was needed everywhere the Serbs lived in Kosovo.
"Everyone who lives south of the Ibar River lives like in a ghetto. They don't even have an institutional framework, and regardless of the fact that we are building a big hospital in Gracanica, everyone just wants to get their hands on North Mitrovica. Because it leans against central Serbia, it's easier for them there. We need the CSM everywhere where Serbs live, but of course much more in the south than in the very north. This way, the Serbs get an institutional framework for their actions, the president, and the council assembly, which will also communicate with the central authorities. Whatever you call it. Invented fairy tales, you can do what you want, this is what is important for us," he stressed and added that he would soon visit Kosovo and that he would like to go to the south and the north.
Vucic said that the Albanians had three pillars for their demands.
"The first is the constitution of Kosovo, the second is Federica Mogherini's statement told by Isa Mustafa. The third pillar is an op-ed, a letter to the editor signed by Chollet and Escobar. I asked, "I have seen all kinds of things, and I also have great respect for Mr. Chollet, and Escobar, but is it possible that you are telling me that the material and formal source of law is one text in the newspaper". And as you can see, we fought for our side. I'm afraid it will be much more difficult than I thought," Vucic said.
He says that there are things that Serbia cannot, nor it is realistic to implement.
"What has changed for us - not much, but we know that our European path will depend on these negotiations. Anyone can say that they are not interested in the European path, but I am. Not because I have an idolatrous approach and think that everything is wonderful there, but because I am the president who has to take care of the country and the citizens, who do not always have to understand and accept it," he said.
He emphasized that the Scholz-Macron plan had not been negotiated.
"Yesterday, the text was changed 12 times, so I want to thank the whole team. In any case, now we have a lot of time to think about everything," Vucic concluded.
He stated that there would be complaints, problems, and troubles regarding the CSM, but that it had been precisely stated that the agreements reached in the dialogue had to be implemented.
"And we are satisfied with what was achieved in the dialogue, and it needs to be fulfilled, it is up to us to make decisions about what will be fulfilled, that is now our framework. We will, but Pristina will also have to fulfill what is important. The CSM is, for reasons incomprehensible to me, a big problem for them," Vucic said.
