Vucic with Erdogan on the situation in Kosovo: Use Turkey's influence to maintain peace in the region

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke today by phone with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and informed him of the chronology of events that had led to the escalation of violence against the Serbian community in Kosovo.

Vucic asked the interlocutor to use the reputation and influence of his country in order for peace and stability to prevail in the region, the Office for Cooperation with the Media of the President of Serbia announced.

"President Erdogan was interested in the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, and President Vucic informed him of the chronology of events that had led to the escalation of violence against the Serbian community there. He also asked the head of the Turkish state to use the reputation and influence of his country in order to peace prevailed and stability prevailed," the announcement states.

On this occasion, the President of Serbia congratulated Erdogan on his election victory, wishing him to successfully lead the country on the path of development in this mandate as well.

Vucic pointed out that Turkey was an extremely important partner for Serbia, not only on a bilateral basis but also on the international political scene.

"I hope that, in addition to the existing projects, we will work together on new ventures, which will accelerate the strong development of the entire region, bring people together, and connect economies," Vucic said.

Vucic invited the Turkish president to visit Serbia.
