Vucic with the Quint: I hope you will succeed in persuading Kurti to withdraw his forces and personal mayors from the north

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met today with representatives of the Quint countries and the head of the EU delegation to discuss the current events in Kosovo.

According to the statement from the Presidency of Serbia, Vucic expressed great dissatisfaction and strong concern over the fact that a part of the international community continued to tolerate unilateral actions by Pristina, which, as he stated, led to violence against the Serbian community, resulting in fewer options for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

President Vucic informed the interlocutors about the accurate chronology of events yesterday, in which a large number of members of the Serbian community had been injured, and that they had gathered to express their dissatisfaction with the intrusion of illegal Kurti's forces into Serbian buildings and the shaken trust in KFOR, which, despite assurances, had not protected the Serbs or prevented the illegal and violent takeover of municipalities.

He reminded them that he had timely and persistently warned of such a development and the consequences that could result from the unpunished behavior of institutions in Pristina, which not only failed to fulfill their obligations but regularly took unilateral violent actions against the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija, leading to numerous and frequent incidents resulting in injuries, beatings, harassment, and overt discrimination against Serbs.

President Vucic stated that it was high time for a part of the international community to finally respond firmly, clearly, and unambiguously to the policies of the Pristina institutions and protect the Serbs from increasing pressures and brutal violence carried out in plain sight of all mechanisms whose role, among other things, is to protect that community.

He expressed regret over the injured KFOR soldiers but emphasized that a much larger number of Serbs had been injured, and that firearms and great physical force had been used against them, although they had been giving nonviolent resistance from the beginning.

As President Vucic added, preserving peace is crucial in the current situation, but the most important aspect is the security of the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija, and in that regard, he expects the Quint countries, which have the greatest influence on Pristina, to urgently adopt and implement specific measures that would guarantee the safety of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija as a precondition for any further dialogue with the representatives of the temporary institutions in Pristina.

President Vucic stressed that Albin Kurti must withdraw his special units because the Serbs would never accept his occupation.

"I hope you will succeed in persuading Kurti to withdraw his forces and personal mayors from the north," President Vucic said.

He also emphasized that Serbia would continue its communication with NATO/KFOR representatives in good faith to preserve peace and stability.

The ambassadors of the Quint and the head of the EU delegation in Serbia expressed concern over the escalation of violence and attacks on KFOR soldiers. They requested a return to dialogue in order to find a political way out of the situation.

Vucic also made a statement on his Instagram account, "buducnostsrbijeav," where he wrote that during the meeting, he had emphasized that Pristina's unilateral actions led to violence against the Serbian community.

"This distances us from lasting peace and stability in the region. The urgent withdrawal of fake mayors and members of the so-called special police forces in Pristina is a condition for maintaining peace in Kosovo and Metohija," President Vucic stated.
