Vucic with the French Senate delegation on the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and the situation in the region

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met today with the delegation of the Senate of the Republic of France, with whom he discussed, among other things, the situation in the region and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

As stated in the press release of the Presidency of Serbia, speaking about the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, President Vucic pointed out that, as always, we approached the process seriously and responsibly, which we had shown yesterday in Brussels by harmonizing the Declaration on Missing Persons, as well as concrete agreement on the steps for the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.

During the conversation with the members of the Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Armed Forces of the Senate of the Republic of France, Vucic emphasized Serbia's determination to further strengthen political dialogue and economic cooperation with France, one of the most important bilateral partners.

"Serbia is proud of the strategic partnership with France and the results achieved in the field of economic cooperation," President Vucic said and emphasized the importance of French companies investing in the Serbian economy.

Speaking about Serbia's European path, President Vucic thanked France for its support, as well as President Macron's initiative to establish a European political community, as a way for countries that were not EU members yet to express their opinions and views.

Members of the French delegation emphasized that their visit was an expression of France's continued interest in Serbia and the Western Balkans, as one of the priorities of their Committee's work. On this occasion, they emphasized their determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Vucic previously stated in a post on Instagram that he had discussed all important issues with the French Senate delegation, from the situation in the region and the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to the strengthening of political dialogue and the expansion of bilateral and economic cooperation, especially in the sphere of new large investments.

"The role of France in the region is of exceptional importance, not only in the traditional and historical context but also in terms of efforts to give the Western Balkans new momentum on the path of European integration," Vucic said.

He added that he was grateful for the support of France in the efforts that Serbia invested in regional integration, preservation of stability, and constructive cooperation on the way to the EU.
