Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated today that he would never sign Kosovo's independence, responding to what he called falsehoods being spread during the election campaign.

In a video message on his Instagram account "buducnostsrbijeav," Vucic emphasized that every election campaign was filled with untruths and lies.

"As the President of the Republic, I must react to something that doesn't concern me, that doesn't concern the political parties I personally support, but pertains to the state and the fundamental principles upon which our country is founded. Just as in the previous campaign, they claimed to be against sanctions on Russia and that I would personally impose them on April 3, but after the elections, I did not do so, and they still advocate for sanctions against the Russian Federation to this day. Now, they have concocted the lie that I am ready to sign Kosovo's independence, only to win the elections. I want the people of Serbia to know that this is an outright lie. As an honorable man, and not only that, but as a man who respects the Constitution and laws of his country and, above all, loves his people in Kosovo and Metohija and will always abide by the law and the oath taken on the Miroslav's Gospel, I want to tell you that this is an outright lie. They cannot bring Serbia down with lies, and that is why I am confident that hard work and results will always prevail. I will never sign Kosovo's independence. And to everyone in Serbia's political scene who spread such falsehoods, it is on their honor," the president stated.
