The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said tonight that the USA imposed sanctions on the head of the Security Information Agency, Aleksandar Vulin, because of Moscow and his attitude towards Russia, and that there would be no sanctions for Vulin if Belgrade had imposed sanctions on Moscow.

"I was told that, I know, I was told to impose sanctions on Russia and there are no sanctions on anyone from Serbia," said Vucic for TV Pink.

Regarding the information about Vulin's involvement in arms or drug trafficking, Vucic says that Serbia, if this information is forwarded to it, will prosecute Vulin.

"But that information does not exist. The reason is Moscow, its attitude towards Russia, and if I had announced sanctions against Russia just a few days ago and signed them, sanctions would not have been introduced against him", stressed Vucic.

On the allegations that Vulin has something to do with the arrest of Kosovo special forces, Vucic says that he doesn't even know how that arrest happened.

"It has nothing to do with that, he didn't even have an insight into the whole case, but they had to make a balance and in that balance where they choose between their child of Kosovo and the one who is right, but is not a puppet, for whom will you be", he asked the president.

However, as he emphasizes, the situation with sanctions is serious and Serbia must treat it as such.

"We have to treat it in such a way that we know that relations with the USA are important for us, that we have better relations," said Vucic and stated that there are many people in the American administration with whom we cooperate well.

Also, the president points out that the US ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill, is a Serbian friend, that is, he helped us much more than he did not.

"We need the US  as a partner, an ally", he states and adds that Serbia also bought Hummer vehicles from teh USA and that 66 have arrived, but they have not been shown yet until our weapons are mounted on them.

Stating that we will be able to continue another type of cooperation with the US, Vucic says that this is why this is not an easy situation for us.

"I also told Vulin that he does not have to explain to me that he is not guilty, if someone is guilty it is me, that is my policy, but it is a serious situation for us and we have to treat it that way," concluded Vucic.
