Vucic: Serbia interested in hosting a meeting between the Presidents of the USA and Russia

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has expressed that Serbia is interested in being the venue for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Vucic assured the Serbs in Kosovo that although the global situation is changing, the state of Serbia will always stand by them.

During his appearance on the TV Pink news, Vucic emphasized that he has never interfered in major global issues, but this time he wishes to offer Serbia as the meeting place for Putin and Trump.

"We will talk to people from Trump's administration. I have never meddled in global issues, but Serbia is interested in being the venue for the meeting of the Russian and American presidents. We are fully prepared to guarantee the security of both presidents. There is no country that can compare with Serbia in terms of the level of support for President Trump, we're not talking about leaders who were one way or another, but about the support of the people as a whole. On the other hand, this is a country where President Putin is still very popular. So, I think this is a place on the globe that would suit both of them extremely well," Vucic highlighted.

Regarding Azerbaijan's decision not to stop supplying gas to Serbia, Vucic pointed out that this is important news for the Serbian people and expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev of that country.

"We have spoken, and they have a force majeure problem not caused by them but by a third-party company, and so it happens, Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan and our great friend, has decided that some countries will not receive gas for some time, but Serbia will have it all the time. It's a big and important decision for our country and our people and I am proud of the friendship with Azerbaijan and with President Aliyev. I expect him in Belgrade whenever he says, because we must also have mixed committees and discuss our cooperation further," said Vucic.

Vucic highlighted that discussions with America regarding sanctions on NIS will continue.

"First technical discussions with OFAC are arranged for tomorrow, then we will address our Russian friends in seven days when all this is defined," added Vucic.

Message to the Serbian people in Kosovo: The global situation is slowly changing, we will always be with our people

Vucic emphasized that Serbia has countless problems in Kosovo but will always stand by its people.

"We have countless problems in Kosovo and Metohija and I want to wish our people who will be celebrating the Serbian New Year as it's said according to the Julian calendar, a Happy New Year, all the best. To our people in Kosovo and Metohija, regardless of what they will do, however much pressure they apply, the situation in the world is slowly changing, but we will always be with our people in Kosovo and Metohija, that will always be part of Serbia for us," added Vucic.

Regarding the statement of Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti, which started the pre-election campaign stating "Kosovo has an army, police, and dialogue for Serbia," Vucic said to just let them boast.

"We have neither an army nor police; he does. Just let everyone boast. How many times in my life have I heard that I'm finished by Christmas, Easter, New Year, until the next elections, but then we don't have elections... And how often did that happen? Not once," said Vucic.

Speaking about the World Economic Forum in Davos, the president noted that this would be his 11th participation, highlighting it as an opportunity to gain new knowledge and make new connections.

"There I had brotherly talks with President Xi and Aliyev. Why is that good? You don't see the result in an instant, but now you see it. We will save at least 200 million cubic meters of gas from our reserves. These are the reasons why one goes. I can't wait to go," he says.

He reminds that the forum is at the time when Donald Trump will take power, and expects that he will come out with 200-300 acts.

"It will be very interesting. Major structural changes that he and Musk are bringing, I congratulate them on their courage and I thought no one in the world would dare," he conveyed.
