Vucic: Serbia's policy will first and foremost be the preservation of peace and stability; insistence on the CSM and the security of the Serbs in Kosovo
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced today, at the extraordinary session of the National Assembly on Kosovo, that Serbia's policy would be above all the preservation of peace and stability, insisting on the CSM and the security of the Serbs in Kosovo.
That plan consists of 10 points.
Point 1 Keeping peace and stability
"To restrain ourselves, we do not respond to provocations, unless people's lives and property are threatened like in 2004 when our great heroes remained silent because peace and stability are not slogans, but something that restores and brings life to Serbia. It is something that allows us to preserve the biological survival of our people," he explained.
Point 2 Persistence on the formation of the CSM, which must be a legal and physical framework
"For the rights of our people, political involvement, and for every kind of support for Serbia, and no one will be able to stop me from thinking about how food, medicine, and the rest will arrive," Vucic explained.
Point 3 The security of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija
"It is part of both the peace and stability point and the CSM point. Security for the Serbs means that no one worries when they send their child to school, that they don't think about whether they will be arrested when they go somewhere because they have a Serbian name," he said.
Point 4 A better life for the Serbs in Kosovo
In this regard, he recalled the large investments of Serbia, which had already reached the level of 900 million euros.
Point 5 Serbia will discuss and negotiate
"To discuss and negotiate on all topics concerning all key issues regarding the cooperation of the Serbs and Albanians, up to the discussion, how and in what way they should be represented in any bodies. Unlike those who like to shout slogans and be heroes at someone else's expense, I said that Serbia would talk and negotiate, even on the worst papers, because we had no right to refuse it because of the past", he said.
Point 6 Preservation of national, state, and vital interests of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija
"We will continue to preserve our military neutrality; we will continue to strengthen our army; we will preserve our right to autonomous and independent decision-making. To continue to be a country whose decisions will not be interfered with by anyone from the east or the west; to know what our policy is and that they are made only in Serbia and never outside of it," Vucic said.
Point 7 Vital interest to stay on the European path
"I'm not a fanatic and a fatalist, nor am I enthusiastic about them, but we have to stay on the European path. They are lying when they say that 43 percent are in favor of the EU - it is much less because they did bad research, but that will not make me say that bad politics for Serbia is the European way. The European road means a lot to Serbia, it means investments, standards, salaries, and pensions. We are surrounded by countries that are in NATO or NATO is there. And where will we go in the conditions of war conflicts, what should we do with our country; how to preserve growth", he added.
Point 8 Growth of Serbia
"Food, army, and energy. Food is lacking everywhere in Europe, that's why we have to work there. We have record amounts of coal and gas at the landfills... We worked, my army, to be three times stronger than today, because it saved the people of Kosovo and Metohija. Because they knew that we would not allow a pogrom. We need the development of healthcare, we need medicines, hospitals, clinical centers,..." he explained.
Point 9 Continuation of the conversation
"The decision why I was guided not to say "go outside, we will continue the talks", and I did not sign anything, because it is important for the country, because we need investments, factories, scientific centers,... Demographically, we are falling, although not as much as some countries EU. Today, Serbia officially has more inhabitants than Bulgaria, for the first time. We lost 400,000 people due to the low birth rate, and they lost 1.5 million people. I don't think anyone will bomb us, we're not even close to that. But by refusing to talk, they would be a European pariah, and no one would talk to us, we would not have access to funds. And in the modern world, you cannot function alone. Even in the wars, we had allies, and now we wouldn't have any," he added.
Point 10 Serbia 2025 Program
"We will continue with the implementation of the "Serbia 2025" Program. Despite all the crises, wages will continue to rise. We will reach some EU countries, and that will bring people back to Serbia. Average salaries will exceed 1,000 euros in 2025, and thus we will join the ranks of not-so-poor countries. We will reach some EU countries, that will bring people back to us, western and eastern Serbia is emptying. Belgrade is being filled with migration. We can partially solve all these problems," he said.
Vucic emphasized that all points were intertwined and each depended on the other.
He reported that he had offered consultations to all parties in order to present to them everything that had been said to him at the meeting, and then he had immediately received from at least five parliamentary groups that they had not been interested in that, but only in the parliamentary session.
"Unfortunately, today I attended a circus performance instead of a serious approach to the problem because everyone wanted to take a picture with an imbecile banner - one of them says traitor, I don't know if they were thinking of themselves or who, they were holding banners with the image of Oliver Ivanovic that said, " you will answer". They held the banners as if they had come to the stadium", he criticized.
He replied to the slogan "capitulation" that he had already said several times that he knew what his job was and that, unlike others who had needlessly brought Serbia into conflicts, his job was to protect the future of this country.
"If he comes, and we will see if it will to or not, to the point of Kosovo joining the UN, unlike you, for me as president, the Constitution is scripture. Capitulation and surrender are not options and I know what I will do. Between my stay in power in the mandate guaranteed to me by the constitution, I know what I have to do because there is no choice between "Vucic or Serbia", Vucic is always on the side of Serbia", he concluded.
