Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met today in Belgrade with EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Peter Sorensen.

Vucic stated that he had an open and constructive first meeting with Sorensen.

"I informed him about the problems our people in Kosovo and Metohija are facing. I expressed particular concern about the difficult situation of Serbs in Kosovo due to numerous escalating, unilateral, and violent actions by Pristina. I also pointed out the ongoing obstructions that Pristina is implementing in the dialogue process and reiterated that the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, after 12 years of Pristina’s refusal to fulfill this obligation, is a prerequisite for the beginning of genuine normalization of relations," Vucic wrote on Instagram, adding:

"I emphasized the expectation that the EU will intensify its engagement and maintain an impartial role in this process. I reiterated Serbia’s position that only constructive dialogue and compromise solutions can contribute to long-term peace and stability in the Western Balkans," Vucic stated.

Sorensen's visit to Belgrade followed the EU Special Envoy's visit to Pristina last week.
