Vucic told Reuters: We are looking for the release of the Serbs and a way to calm tensions

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said last night, in an interview with the British agency Reuters, that Serbia is seeking the release of all arrested Serbs and ways to calm tensions in the north of Kosovo, RTV reports.

Vucic, in an interview he gave after the session of the National Security Council, reiterated that Serbs in Kosovo must not participate in violence against members of the KFOR and EULEX forces.

"No one, under any circumstances, should participate in the attacks on Eulex and Kfor," Vucic said.

When asked whether Belgrade will try to find a way to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo, he briefly answered "absolutely".

The agency states that Vucic accused the Pristina authorities and Prime Minister Albin Kurti of inciting tensions with "countless unilateral moves".

"Whenever someone thought we had solved something, another problem appeared," Vucic pointed out.

The President of Serbia requested the release of the recently arrested Serbs in the north of Kosovo because, as he emphasized, "they are being held under fabricated charges and that the Kosovo police must withdraw from the north of Kosovo, in accordance with the Brussels Agreement."

"The Kosovo police have nothing to do in the north... Especially people armed to the teeth. This causes discomfort and fear among the Serbian population," Vucic said.

The British agency claims that Vucic refused to specify which steps the National Security Council adopted at the session.
