Vulovic: A clear message that they want to erase all our memories

The director of the High School (Gymnasium) in North Mitrovica, Bojana Vulovic, sharply condemned this morning’s intrusion by unidentified individuals accompanied by police into the courtyard of the Technical School in North Mitrovica, during which, she said, murals were painted over and the school gate was damaged.

“Earlier this morning, I was informed by an employee who was on duty that unidentified individuals, accompanied by police, entered the courtyard behind the Technical School and painted over the murals that had been written on the school wall,” Vulovic stated.

According to her, the murals posed no danger and did not disturb anyone.

“This is a clear sign that they want to erase all our memories. These were murals that bothered no one and posed no danger whatsoever,” the director stressed.

Vulovic emphasized that those who entered the school grounds did so without notice or authorization, forcing their way through the school gate.

“They entered the courtyard of the Technical School, which is also used by three other city schools, without prior notice or anyone’s permission, thereby breaking open the locked gate,” she said.

In conclusion, she expressed regret over what she described as an attempt to erase the identity and values represented by the murals.

“I truly express my deepest regret over all the painted-over murals in the city, especially those of our church dignitaries, whose path we are meant to follow,” Vulovic said.
