Analyst Visar Imeri pointed out that the Government of Kosovo should establish the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities and added that the fact that the US supported the establishment of the CSM was a guarantee that it would not interfere with the functioning of Kosovo, Ekonomia online reports.

Ymeri said that the statement of the senior adviser of the US State Department, Derek Chollet, that "the CSM is an urgent issue on the agenda of the dialogue and that the US does not support the new Republic of Srpska", was a guarantee that the CSM would not "threaten the sovereignty of Kosovo".

"The government of Kosovo should have more confidence in that process and be more active, especially on this topic, which is sensitive and has been discussed for a long time," Ymeri said.

He emphasized that the formation of the CSM was urgent due to the created institutional vacuum in the north of Kosovo, recalling that such a situation existed in 2013 and that the agreement at that time aimed to integrate, as he stated, the Serbs and the north into the institutions and political life of Kosovo.

"Now the same thing is happening to us because of our mistakes," Ymeri said.

He assessed the visit of Chollet as very important for Kosovo, and especially for the dialogue with Serbia.

"It is very good news that the US is showing more commitment, because it is important for Kosovo for two reasons. The first is that the USA was the one that helped Kosovo the most, especially in the most difficult phases. The second is that the US, with the strength it has, is the only guarantee that the dialogue can be completed and an agreement reached, which is in the interest of Kosovo," he said.
