Zvecan: KFOR brought in heavy machinery; streets leading to the municipality blocked
KFOR members stationed around the municipality building in Zvecan have brought in additional heavy machinery vehicles and larger quantities of barbed wire. The streets leading to this facility are blocked.
According to reporters from Kosovo Online, despite unofficial information suggesting that Kosovo Police members could withdraw from the municipality building around 3 p.m. today, the situation on the ground is currently not moving in that direction.
Kosovo Police Special Units are still inside the municipality building, and several armored vehicles are positioned in front of the building itself.
Employees of the Zvecan Municipality, who gathered in front of the institution's building this morning, hope to be allowed to return to their workplaces.
The Polish contingent of KFOR has put up a fence 15 meters away from the municipality and formed a cordon. Like yesterday, they are equipped with shields and equipment for handling demonstrations, while Kosovo Police Special Units are positioned behind the KFOR soldiers in several armored vehicles.
Schools remain closed today, but a few grocery stores have opened this morning.
The Mayor of Zvecan, Ilir Peci, confirmed that he had not gone to the municipality building today. Instead, he and his cabinet began their work in the office in the village of Lipe.
