The President of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija of the Assembly of Serbia, Milovan Drecun, said that after today's events in the north of Kosovo, KFOR had become an agent of destabilization, which threatened the survival of the Serbs in that area.

In the "Oko" show on RTS, Drecun said that the trust of the Serbs in KFOR, which, he pointed out, had gone beyond the scope of its mandate according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244, had been shaken to the maximum extent.

He also pointed out that all this was a joint action of Pristina and KFOR, recalling that KFOR had already promised the representatives of the Serb List on Friday that they would not allow this, so, still, they had allowed the intrusion of the Kosovo police.

"Now KFOR is coming to stand between the Kosovo police and citizens, we see that it is a military police unit to break up demonstrations. If you came to prevent conflicts, don't prepare for a conflict with citizens," Drecun said.

He reported that the commander of KFOR for the North, after talking with the Kosovo Special Forces, had said that there was a hostage situation and that the Serbs were not letting two special police vehicles pass, asking them to let them pass.

"Then they allegedly started freeing those vehicles, then the people sat down and KFOR started using force. It is the right of the Serbs to defend themselves against the use of force. And they defended themselves as much as they could. We also have injured people," Drecun said.

He added that since the sniper and Kalashnikovs had been seen, it had been clear that that had been all a joint activity.

As the American ambassador in Pristina invited the mayors - two elected from the ranks of Self-Determination and two from PDK - to the meeting, only the officials of Hashim Thaci's party responded, Drecun stated that the US did not have maximum influence on Kurti, and that they could not persuade him to give up entering the municipalities.

"And then you see Thaci, who is now in Kosovo due to the alleged illness of his mother... Is it some kind of 'barter' - we will see if his party listens to the advice of the Americans... Because if the US and the Quint wanted, they could prevent all this. KFOR had enough information," Drecun said.

He added that it was not necessary to return everything to the previous state.

"They say that there must be no violent incursions, who are they referring to? Maybe to the Serbs? Was KFOR allowed to intervene like today if there was no political decision from the NATO headquarters? There was a political directive to strengthen the situation caused by the temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina, which changes the situation on the ground - to maintain control over municipal buildings," Drecun said.

Commenting on the statement of the head of the Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, that an "explosion in the center of Europe" was about to happen, Drecun said that, when thinking in a realistic, geopolitical way, it could be seen that Europe did not have the capacity even to deal with the war in Ukraine, let alone for a new crisis point, but that, when you see the behavior of Kurti and the political West, NATO and KFOR, it seems that someone needs a controlled crisis, up to a certain limit, in order to force Belgrade to give way in dialogue.

He also pointed out that the EU Special Representative for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, had not reacted to the events in Kosovo today.

Drecun said that the key move, which had led to this situation, had been made when the West had recognized the elections in the North.

"Then Kurti said - 'we are going to enforce the law', and KFOR said they were only enforcing the law because there was no mandate to interfere. A high official of the State Department said, and this was not noticed, that if the criminal elements in the north interfere with the implementation of election results that the US will punish those criminal elements. It was clear that the US intends to enable the realization of the results of the alleged elections. That is why it is not realistic to expect Pristina to withdraw the mayors. They would like us to accept these things, that they have power. And the US warned that those mayors should take care of everyone's interests. They received a political mandate in the supposed elections," he stressed.

Drecun said that the causes that had led to the current events, which could lead to maximum conflicts in the north, had to be removed.

"Special parapolice units must be withdrawn, and their bases must be disbanded, but I don't see the will of Pristina and the Quint to do that. That is the only thing that could allow the situation to calm down," he pointed out.

Drecun said that Pristina had the support of the West and that he believed that now there would be a controlled management of the crisis, which would not cross the border of having to use military force to protect its people.
