Councilors of the Municipal Assembly of Zeta, 18 of them from the coalition “For the Future of Zeta,” led at the local level by the Democratic People's Party (DNP), have submitted an initiative to include on the Assembly’s agenda an item titled “Declaration on the annulment and non-recognition of the decision on recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.”
Eighteen out of a total of 32 councilors signed the official request to place this proposal on the agenda, which is also the number of votes required for its adoption, the Montenegrin portal Borba reports. It is noted that this initiative could receive support from more councilors than the required majority.
The leader of the Democratic People’s Party, Milan Knezevic, stated a few days ago that voting on the withdrawal of recognition will first take place in Zeta, and then in other municipalities.
He also expects significant support for this initiative in the Montenegrin parliament.
