Vucic: Kosovo is a part of Serbia, we care about all our people

Kosovo and Metohija is a part of Serbia, and we care about our people wherever they live, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today.

Speaking to the citizens in Smederevo, in front of the hall where a pre-election rally for the "Aleksandar Vucic - Serbia Must Not Stop" list was held, he emphasized that those who had done everything to surrender Kosovo were making up all sorts of things.

"And let me tell you, they've been making up all sorts of things, and they will continue to make up all sorts of things, but - Kosovo and Metohija is a part of Serbia, it was and will be. Unlike their time when they did everything to hand it over to them", Vucic said.

He also stated during the rally that he would no longer be the President of Serbia if those who, he said, had been destroying the country won the elections.

He consciously accepted the invitation to lead the Serbian Progressive Party list, knowing that he would bear the responsibility.

"Do you really think that I will be the President while one of those who had been destroying the country becomes the Prime Minister if others win the elections? I will give them the mandate; I won't be the President anymore because I won't be able to do anything more for Serbia and its citizens. To pretend to be the President, to be all dressed up, and to have a secretary, to have a good time for myself while the citizens suffer - I won't do that", Vucic said.

He added that he wanted to be a president who could work for the citizens because that was the only thing that interested him.

"I want people to know that when they vote, they are not just voting for a list of MPs but also for their president. They can vote for or against me, just the way they want", Vucic said.

Gouillon: I came to Serbia because of the injustice towards the Serbs in Kosovo

Arnaud Gouillon, the Director of the Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and the Serbs in the Region, also addressed the gathered citizens in Smederevo. He recalled that he had come to Serbia in 2004, a few months after the pogrom against the Serbs in Kosovo.

He had come, he said, precisely because of that injustice.

"I came because of the injustice that befell all Serbs and because of the lies spread about Serbia and Serbs in the world media. I came because of parents who didn't believe in that and taught us that Serbs and Serbia are friends and allies. They remind us of our ancestors, the Gales", Gouillon said.

Since then, until today, he has remained in Serbia.

"I came and stayed because of Serbian culture, values that have never been foreign to me, because of the Serbs, whom I have grown to love. I have genuinely grown fond of you, and you have truly embraced me as one of your own", Gouillon added.
