Baby boom in Gracanica: 29 more babies born compared to the same period last year
At the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic of the Clinical Hospital Center of Pristina based in Gracanica, 29 more babies have been born compared to the same period last year, with six to seven newborns now present in the pediatric unit every day, Professor Dr. Nenad Sulovic says for Kosovo Online.
In the last 13 days, the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Gracanica has conducted 21 deliveries.
"We have something to be proud of. In the last 20 to 25 days, we've continuously had six or seven babies in the pediatric unit, and we've had a choir of newborns, with their healthy cries being a significant motivation for our ongoing work. In comparison to the same period last year, at the end of August, we had around 163 deliveries, and today, as of today, we have 192," Dr. Sulovic said.
Both mothers and newborns are in good health, Sulovic emphasizes, and an increase in the number of deliveries is expected in the coming period.
"This trend will likely continue, judging by the number of pregnant women attending prenatal check-ups in recent days, which has ranged from 10 to 15, but as time goes on, more expectant mothers are coming, requiring slightly closer monitoring in their final month," the doctor explained.
The rise in the number of newborns indicates that, despite the overall political situation, families are continuing to build and plan their lives in their homeland, Dr. Sulovic says, but that's not all.
"This tells us that along with us, the Republic of Serbia, through the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, with its incentive measures, cares for and thinks about this area. Since we are satisfied, we must highlight ourselves a bit. Gracanica is the regional center of Kosovo, especially the enclave south of the Ibar River. The Republic of Serbia can be proud that its efforts are being justified as they should be," Sulovic emphasized.
Milena Kovacevic from Strpce gave birth to her third child, a son named Bogdan, just a few days ago. She says it's too early to talk about a fourth child, but she emphasizes that they will build their lives in the place where they were born.
"I've been here since Monday. My cesarean section was done on Monday, but thank God, both the baby and I are well. We feel very comfortable here. The staff is exceptionally good, not to mention the doctors, who are experts and do their jobs very well. This is our third child, and we plan to stay here in Kosovo," Kovacevic said.
According to Dr. Sulovic, the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic in Gracanica not only cares for normal pregnancies but also high-risk pregnancies, which is essential for many expectant mothers.
