Educational workers from Leposavic could not withdraw their salaries: Will someone put an end to this tyranny

Dozens of employed educational workers from the high schools and primary schools in Leposavic gathered this morning outside the branch of the Postal Savings Bank, intending to withdraw their salaries deposited from the budget of the Government of Serbia. They said for Kosovo Online that they were disappointed and in an untenable situation.

There is no money available at the ATMs, and at the counters, they can only withdraw up to 5,000 dinars, and that is until the stocks last. They cannot withdraw the full amount of their salaries since the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo to ban the dinar.

Ivan Obradovic, a professor at "Nikola Tesla" High School, expressed concern about survival in these areas.

"We have gathered here in front of the postal savings bank to express our dissatisfaction with the decision to ban the Serbian dinar. Instead of recording programs today about our students and their successes, we are once again here concerned about our survival. I would like to tell our people to remain united in these difficult times and to support the Serb List, especially in Kosovska Mitrovica, so that we, as educational workers, provide support for them to engage in discussions with all relevant actors on the survival of the Serbian dinar," Obradovic said.

He appealed to citizens living outside the territory of Kosovo, as he said, to help the elderly and show them where they could withdraw their earned salaries.

"I would also like to apologize to the people in Raska and Novi Pazar and all other parts of Serbia, and I would ask them to show our grandmothers and grandfathers, as well as our parents, where the postal savings banks, pharmacies, and banks are because we really have a plethora of problems surrounding us here. I would also ask for their unity and for them to know the problems our people are facing. I would also send a message to the relevant actors in the European community that the Serbian people are not a flock of sheep. We have been oppressed and bent for twenty years, and I hope that in these most difficult moments for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, we will rise and find a way to tell them that it may be time to move from words to actions, and to ask them once again, because this tyranny must be put to an end, thank God," Obradovic said.

Bojan Milosavljevic, a teacher at "Leposavic" Elementary School, sees the ban on the dinar as another form of pressure on the Serbian people.

"I would like to express my dissatisfaction because, for two months now, we cannot withdraw our own salaries. Where else in the world do educational workers, who educate and guide many generations, have to beg for their salaries? We see this as another form of pressure on us here. Where is the international community, does it see what is happening here? We demand to be allowed to lead a normal life in these areas," Milosavljevic said.
