Zubin Potok: Lines in front of the Postal Savings Bank, "Yumkos" employees are trying to withdraw salaries

About a hundred citizens gathered in front of the branch of the Postal Savings Bank in Zubin Potok this morning, mostly women, employees of the "Yumkos" textile industry, trying to withdraw their salaries provided by the state of Serbia, TV Most reports.

The decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo to prohibit the use of any currency other than the euro in payment transactions from February 1 directly jeopardized the livelihoods of employees, recipients of social benefits, and other entitlements provided by Serbia.

Employees of the "Yumkos" textile complex emphasize that they have no other income and that dinar funds are their only source of income, which they use to feed their children, buy medicine, and pay taxes.

"Pristina makes it clear to us every day that it is trying to close all doors of assistance to us and that there is no place for us in these areas," one of the workers, Stana Djukic, says for Kosovo Online.

She adds that the salary was issued a few days ago, but they were unable to withdraw it.

"Some can go to central Serbia for money, but most cannot," she says.

Angelina Djordjevic points out that they can only withdraw up to five thousand dinars.

"It is hard for us, we want to exercise our rights and stay and survive here in Kosovo," she says.

The gathered Serbs also note that many of them are unable to go to Serbia for their money because they do not have the money to travel, and that if the unreasonable decision of Pristina to abolish the dinar is not withdrawn, a humanitarian catastrophe will occur in Europe in the 21st century, caused by forcing Serbs to leave Kosovo.

"But Kurti doesn't know how proud and stubborn Serbs are when they are being pushed, especially when they try to take away what is theirs. So we tell him that we will not leave even at the cost of being hungry," a resident of Zubin Potok says.
