Kosovo Prosecutorial Council: We are suspending cooperation with the government, a decision on wages reduction to be dismissed

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has asked the Kosovo government to immediately cancel, as it claims, the unconstitutional and illegal decision to reduce salaries in the judiciary and will announce that the council and the prosecutor's office will suspend all forms of cooperation with representatives of the Government of Kosovo, Lajmi reports.

Previously, the same decision was made by the Judicial Council of Kosovo.

As announced, the work of the prosecutor's office will be reduced and only basic services will be rendered.

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council headed by the chairman Jetish Maloku, held an extraordinary session where only one agenda item was discussed in connection with the decision of the Government of Kosovo- prosecutors’ salaries reduction. 

The chief prosecutors of the prosecutor's offices also took part in that meeting, and the members of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council and the chief prosecutors of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council unanimously assessed that today's decision of the Government of Kosovo was an unconstitutional and illegal decision, as well as that it represented a flagrant interference in the independence of the prosecutor's system.

The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council made a decision asking the Government of Kosovo to immediately cancel the decision on salaries reduction in the judiciary.

"If that decision is not dismissed by December 8, 2022, the Council will decide on other, more radical measures," the announcement states.
