North Mitrovica: Jazz festival being prepared – police surround the stage, citizens surprised
While final preparations are underway on the promenade in North Mitrovica for the “Mitrovica Days” event, which begins today, a stage is also being set up at the start of the promenade for the “Mitrovica Jazz Days,” which is set to take place in the coming days, featuring both international and Kosovo-based bands.
Members of the Kosovo Police are present around the assembled stage, along with about ten people working on preparations for the jazz festival, which has taken residents of North Mitrovica by surprise, as they say they were unaware of the event being organized until today.
Several individuals wearing “Mitrovica Jazz Days” T-shirts are handing out promotional material announcing that concerts by musicians from the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Turkey, Japan, Italy, as well as bands from Kosovo, are scheduled in the coming days.
The promotional material also reveals that the jazz festival is supported by numerous sponsors and partners, including the Kosovo Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of North Mitrovica, the OSCE Mission, the Austrian Embassy in Kosovo, among others.
Meanwhile, the five-day “Mitrovica Days” event will begin today in North Mitrovica, featuring a cultural and artistic program running through August 12.
The program of “Mitrovica Days” will be enriched by a local products bazaar, parties with popular DJs, and performances by local bands, accompanied by food offerings at stalls along the promenade, according to organizers – the cafés and businesses located along the promenade in North Mitrovica.
