Novakovic: About 150 people are without electricity; the police do not allow Elektrokosmet workers to move
A meeting of the Crisis Staff was held in North Mitrovica today, where security problems related to the maintenance of the energy system at the consumption of the municipality of Zubin Potok were presented; it was said that members of the Kosovo Police prevented the flow of electricity to the Rezala settlement yesterday.
Boban Novakovic, a member of the Crisis Staff and director of "Elektrokosmet", said that the Kosovo Police had forbidden the workers of that company to move freely on the local road, as a result of which, as he stated, around 150 residents had been left without electricity.
"Yesterday, members of the Kosovo Police made it impossible for our workers to pass electricity to the settlement of Rezala by forbidding them to move freely on the local road. Today they did not allow us to repair the defect in the network on the stretch between Rovacki Potok and the village of Jabuka. Currently, about 150 residents, among which there are children, the elderly, and the sick, are without voltage in the villages of Jabuka, Prevlak, Crepulja, Dren, Zagulj, as well as the MTS repeater in Kurilovo, thus preventing telecommunication services for citizens," Novakovic said.
According to him, the Kosovo Police said that the KEDS workers would remove the defect today, which, he added, was in contradiction to all the agreements reached.
"This is against all agreements because the maintenance of the network in that part has always been done by our workers," Novakovic said.
He emphasized that they had turned to KFOR for help.
"We got in touch with KFOR and asked them to use their authority to help us solve the mentioned problem. We are still waiting for feedback," Novakovic said at the meeting of the Crisis Staff.
He added that the worker of "Elektrokosmet" had been attacked by the Kosovo Police at the Gazivode dam.
"On December 11, our electrical fitter from Zubin Potok, Milan Tomasevic, was physically and mentally abused by the Kosovo Police at the Gazivode dam, when he and his colleague Milorad Vlaskovic went to the substation "Andrice" to fix the malfunction," Novakovic concluded.
