Residents of Suvi Do: KLA graffiti shows that efforts are not being made to calm the situation

In the mixed settlement of Suvi Do, the Serbs are upset after KLA (Kosovo Liberation Army) graffiti appeared on the outpatient clinic in that place, and they point out that this is not the first time and that such inscriptions best show how much work is not actually being done on the de-escalation that Pristina talks about.

According to the residents of this settlement, which connects North and South Mitrovica, this is not the first time that such graffiti has been written on the ambulance in Suvi Do.

Mico Kragovic tells Kosovo Online that this is a move that shows how much the situation is calming down.

"Recently there has been no graffiti, yesterday this was not here, a little while ago I passed by and saw this graffiti... Probably the Albanians' move towards calming this situation contributes to such acts. How ready they are for living together and calming the situation can be seen on this wall. If we look at the northern bank of the Ibar, we are the first and most striking village where we bother them the most. Who do we bother? Certainly not the well-intentioned, but those who don't think about living together, and it is known who that is," Kragovic said.

His neighbor Branko Radovanovic says that before the war, more than 250 Serbs lived here, while there were around 50 Albanians. Now the situation is different precisely because of the pressures they are exposed to.

"I don't know how many Albanians there are now, but there are fewer and fewer Serbs, maybe around a hundred. Life with the neighbors is frozen, we don't have any direct conflicts with the neighbors, but we don't have correct relations, as was the case in a shorter period. When you hear that medicines can't come... It means that they are bothered by the treatment of the Serbs, and now they are also bothered by the buildings where the Serbs are being treated. There are old people left here and this clinic means a lot because elderly people cannot travel to Mitrovica. In this way, they are trying to destroy the privilege of the elderly, just because they are Serbs," Radovanovic says.

According to Dragoljub Milutinovic, the graffiti was written yesterday, after it rained when there were no passers-by on the street.

"I noticed the graffiti yesterday, after the rain, around 18:00. When I passed before that, it wasn't there, but when I came back, I saw it... They try in every way, they make excesses, they deliberately throw garbage on our side of the road and someone provokes them from those delinquents, they mock us from the car, swear at us... It's not pleasant," Milutinovic talks about what all Serbs face every day.

As he says, they do not have bad relations with the natives, but the younger ones today are not in favor of cooperation.

"We do not have any relations with them that lead to some improvement. We hope that it will get better, but it is difficult. This neighbor who lives here will not be the first to cause problems, but they come from neighboring villages, from Gusevac, Vinarce... There are decent ones who say hello, and there are those who, when you say hello, just turn their heads," he illustrates the relationship between neighbors in Suvi Do.
