The season has begun at the Brezovica Ski Resort
The tourist season at the Brezovica Ski Resort has begun. A beautiful and sunny day attracted a large number of tourists, so in addition to those using the well-groomed ski slopes, some have come just to enjoy the panoramic views of the beautiful landscapes of the Sharr Mountains by cable car.
Ljubisa Stojanovic, the Director of the Brezovica Ski Resort, says that even though this winter season started earlier than last year, they were well-prepared for it.
"We started the season a bit earlier than in previous years because now there is a lot of snow. As for the cable cars, we have overhauled and fixed everything; the cable cars are ready, and both of them are in operation. We have groomed the slopes; our main concern is that the slopes are prepared, and the cable cars are functioning properly for the safety of the skiers. We have a bit of a problem with parking due to the large crowds. When a large amount of snow fell, we didn't have enough parking space, and the road wasn't very clear, so we lost quite a few guests. Buses were parked at Brezovica, and people walked up. Overall, our biggest problem is the road and parking. As for prices, they are mostly the same as last year with some minor changes", Stojanovic emphasizes.
Velimir Ilic from the "Borzani" Ski Service, which deals with renting skis and winter equipment, says that the prices are affordable, and skiers come from all over the Balkans.
"There is currently enough snow for skiing. We offer skis for the price of 10 euros, and we also have other equipment such as jackets, pants, helmets, gloves – everything a skier needs. Most of our guests come from Kosovo, but we also have guests from Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, and Serbia; guests come here from all over the Balkans. They are satisfied with the slopes; some say that the best slopes are here with us, so a warm recommendation is to come and visit our ski center".
One of the restaurateurs on the Sharr Mountain, the owner of the "Tina" pizzeria, Draginja Nikolcevic, says they are pleased that the season started earlier, and it is noticeable that there are many more guests this year.
"This year, to everyone's delight and surprise, snow fell earlier. In the last couple of years, especially last year, snow fell around mid-January, so we had quite a few problems; it was a weak season. Now we are all happy and satisfied; the snow has fallen, and guests are here. I heard that the Faculty of Physical Education from Pristina is in 'Molika', the hotel is prepared, and they are changing windows. I heard that children will come, just like every year; they will be here for the entire season. What we've noticed, and I always say this, and this year even more, is that a lot of guests from Albania come. Expatriates from abroad also come, and it's noticeable. We have nice periods; when it snows, we have beautiful days. I see there are many open places on the mountain; the offer is vast. The atmosphere is lovely; on weekends, they set up stages, DJs come, so it's interesting, and it's expanding a lot. I think, compared to the last few years, many more guests are coming this year", Nikolcevic emphasized.
The "Molika" Hotel currently has around 250 accommodation capacities. In a quadruple room, the overnight stay with breakfast is 20 euros, half board is 25 euros, and full board is 30 euros. In a triple room, the overnight stay with breakfast is 25 euros, half board is 30 euros, and full board is 35 euros. In a double room, the overnight stay with breakfast costs 30 euros, half board is 35 euros, and full board is 40 euros.
