Vucevic: Army and police exercise "Joint Response 2023" has begun at several locations in Serbia
The Minister of Defense of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, stated that a joint tactical exercise with live shooting "Joint Response 2023" had begun at several locations in Serbia early this morning, during which the forces of the Serbian Armed Forces and units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs would rehearse the execution of an offensive operation.
Parts of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, the Army, the Air Force and the Defense Force, the Training Command, the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, and the 63rd Parachute Brigade, as well as the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit, the Gendarmerie, the intervention and helicopter units of the Ministry of the Interior, participate in the exercise activities, the Ministry of Defense of Serbia announced.
The general goal of the exercise, which is being implemented this week and next, is to improve the training and capability of the army and police forces to jointly solve tactical and fire tasks during the preparation and execution of a combat operation.
In the preparatory phase, activities are carried out at the home locations of the units, while in the active phase, the joint forces will practice combat operations and operations on permanent and temporary training grounds. In the final part, the state leadership and the public will be shown part of the training activities at the temporary training ground "Pester", as well as the training and equipment of the army and police forces.
As part of the preparations for the implementation of activities on the ground, a command and staff exercise supported by computer simulations "Response 2023" was carried out last week, within which, in a simulated environment, the competence of the training commands for planning and execution of operations was checked.
Combined tactical exercises with live shooting represent the most complex form of training in the Serbian Army. Their realization improves both the ability of commands to plan operations and command forces, as well as the ability of units to carry out combat operations, independently and in cooperation with other formations.
