Lawyers of Hashim Thaci requested to withdraw from the case, the former KLA leader did not fulfill obligations toward them
Gregory Kehoe and Joe Reeder, along with their legal teams, have filed a request to withdraw from Hashim Thaci's case before the Specialist Chambers in The Hague due to, as stated, "non-fulfillment of obligations by the former President of Kosovo and KLA leader."
The reason given in the request is the failure to fulfill obligations toward them.
"Mr. Thaci has not fulfilled his obligations to Gregory Kehoe, Joe Reeder, and members of the support team, and Mr. Thaci has been given reasonable warning that they would seek termination unless the obligation was fulfilled," the statement from the Specialist Chambers reads.
The statement notes the official request from Thaci's defense, and according to regulations, when the next defense group is appointed, previous lawyers must continue to cooperate within a maximum of 45 days from the moment new legal representatives are appointed.
Furthermore, it emphasizes that Thaci can represent himself in court, and also that a legal representative may be assigned to him by the Specialist Chambers if he does not have enough financial means to pay for them.
