Shahini: Government should focus on the economy, six years without strong economic development
Agim Shahini, president of the Kosovo Business Alliance, called on the Kosovo government and Assembly to focus on economic development, saying that a great deal of time had been lost and that investment and the private sector must be at the center of government policies, Dukagjini reported.
Shahini said that the institutions should work to address shortcomings that had accumulated over the past several years and create better conditions for economic development.
According to him, the economy is a key area in which the current government can demonstrate concrete results.
“Now that we have everything in place, the government and the Kosovo Assembly should roll up their sleeves and make up for everything that is lacking and has accumulated over more than two years. The only hope for the current government to present itself as a force working in the interests of citizens lies in the economy. That is why it should turn its attention back to the economy, which it has neglected,” Shahini said.
He noted that six years had passed without any significant progress in economic development.
“It should turn its attention back to investment and investors, focus on the private sector, build bridges of cooperation and establish communication with it. In this way, it can restore hope in the economy, because our economy depends on imports,” Shahini said.
