Delevic: Nedeljkovic subjected to psychological and physical abuse, we will demand accountability of police officers
Attorney Milos Delevic, the legal representative of Rastko Nedeljkovic from Zvecan, who was arrested last night along with three other young men in North Mitrovica, stated for Kosovo Online that his client was beaten by members of the Kosovo Police during his arrest and while in custody at the police station, and that his injuries were documented in the hospital.
Delevic emphasized that Nedeljkovic is accused of assaulting a police officer.
"However, he claims that this assault did not occur and that he did not have any physical contact with police officers, whether in civilian clothes or in uniform. Nonetheless, he complains that he was beaten by the police during his arrest and while in custody at the police station. He spent the entire night at the North Police Station, requested medical assistance, but was denied it. He was subjected to both psychological and physical abuse, they beat him, slapped him, and kicked him in the genitals, subjecting him to real torture. Eventually, they granted his request to be taken to the hospital, where his injuries were documented," said Delevic.
He stated that they will seek accountability for the police officers responsible for mistreating Nedeljkovic.
"Today, we are awaiting what will happen next, whether the prosecutor will file a request for detention or if they will be released to defend themselves while free. We expect, considering these individuals are 20 years old, practically children, that they will be released to defend themselves while free and will prove their innocence," Delevic said.
