The brutal arrest and beating of three Serbian young men last night in North Mitrovica by members of the Kosovo Police reflect the anti-Serbian policies of Albin Kurti and the repression and torture that Serbs in northern Kosovo endure daily in full view of the international community, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

According to the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, there is clear evidence of the Kosovo Police's brutality.

"Disturbing footage shows Kurti's police officers throwing Serbian young men to the ground, beating and dragging them for 10 minutes as they cried for help, and then arresting them at gunpoint. The extent of tyranny, lawlessness, harassment, and rights violations is further demonstrated by the fact that a Serbian man who filmed the torture was also arrested, in an attempt to erase traces and evidence of police brutality, which fortunately have been preserved," the statement emphasized.

As they state from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, it is particularly concerning that the parents have not been allowed to see their children, nor has a Serbian medical team been permitted to visit and examine them, given that the young men were victims of proven police brutality.

"Furthermore, according to witnesses, Kurti's henchmen were in civilian clothes and did not show any identification, which is further proof that Kurti aims to turn northern Kosovo and Metohija into a police-occupied territory. Belgrade and Serbs from northern Kosovo and Metohija warn about this daily, while the international community remains silent as Serbian youths are beaten and arrested, intimidating and unsettling all Serbs in the region," the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

Last night in North Mitrovica, R.N. (2004), L.K. (2005), V.J. (2003), and M.M. (2005) were arrested.
