Haxhiu: CEC Decision not to certify the Serb an important victory for Democracy
Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, stated that the decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) not to certify the Serb List for participation in the October 12 local elections represents an important victory for democracy, Reporteri reports.
“The decision represents an important victory for democracy, for the integrity of the electoral process, and for civic and state security,” Haxhiu noted.
She stressed that the Serb List has repeatedly acted against constitutional principles and violated the democratic order of Kosovo.
According to her, the Serb List “has proven that it does not aim at citizen representation, but rather serves as an extended arm of Vucic.”
“The terrorist attack in Banjska, organized by its de facto leader, criminal Milan Radoicic, is one of the terrorist acts against which Kosovo is acting decisively. Their disqualification is a just and legitimate decision, fully in line with Kosovo’s constitutional principles, and a guarantee that the elections will reflect the free will of the citizens, without external interference and without pressure from criminal structures,” Haxhiu added.
She further emphasized that Kosovo’s institutions remain committed to ensuring a fair, inclusive, and democratic electoral process, in which political participation is possible only for entities that, as she stated, respect the law, the Constitution, and the sovereignty of Kosovo.
