Radojevic: We will fight for the rights of the Serbian people and for an absolute victory in North Mitrovica
The Serb List’s candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevic, together with candidates for the municipal assembly, numerous activists, and youth, spoke today with citizens on the town promenade about their expectations and presented the party’s plans. On that occasion, Radojevic stated that he is entering the elections with a clear goal – to fight for the rights of the Serbian people, which, as he emphasized, have been constantly violated over the past three years.
He stressed that the Serb List, as the strongest Serb party in the area, expects an absolute victory.
“Even at this moment, as we speak, you can see how many police officers are around us, some with cameras, some in uniform, some in plain clothes. This represents a form of pressure that the citizens of North Mitrovica have been feeling for over three years. The Serb List expected the international community to help resolve all these accumulated problems over the past three years. To ensure the rights of the Serb people in these areas are respected, and to uphold everything prescribed in the law, which has been consistently violated. Unfortunately, we received nothing other than appeals and statements. Therefore, the Serb List is entering these elections to win power in all ten municipalities. As for the municipality of North Mitrovica, we expect an absolute victory because the citizens will certainly not tolerate this local government, which constantly undermines the rights of the people of North Mitrovica,” Radojevic said.
He emphasized that the offices of the Serb List are open daily to all citizens of Mitrovica and to those needing help and support.
“As you can see, even at this moment, citizens are coming into the Serb List offices, talking both to the candidates for municipal assembly and to the members of the Serb List presidency. So, communication with citizens is ongoing. Of course, we are open to every opinion, even critical ones, because North Mitrovica has always been known for freedom of speech and defense of freedom. Unfortunately, over the past three years, we have lost that freedom. How will we cope under these circumstances? Well, if we have the absolute support of the citizens, as we expect, we believe it will be much easier,” he added.
Asked what he expects from the upcoming elections, Radojevic said the priority is to return to the North Mitrovica municipal assembly.
“As we have told citizens, we will primarily work on analyzing all the decisions made by the local assembly. Of course, all those decisions made to the detriment of citizens. As members of the press, you have followed all of this. Those decisions will be annulled and replaced with decisions that benefit the citizens of North Mitrovica, which the majority of citizens want, expect, and will vote for. As you can see, we are working daily, we are in campaign mode, so when the final election results are announced, we will move on to the first steps,” Radojevic stated.
He also addressed the complaint filed by the Self-Determination Movement to the Electoral Panel for complaints regarding the banner at the Serb List pre-election rally in North Mitrovica, which read “Everyone with brother Milan.”
“What can I say about Self-Determination? Since they came to power, they have constantly spread hatred against the Serb people. There is no corner of Kosovo where Serbs are not threatened. Especially in the north, Serbs have felt just how much this so-called justice, so-called respect for the law by Self-Determination, affects our lives. So their complaint is just another recent pressure on the Serb List. It is known that they wanted to ban the Serb List, it is known that they wanted to declare us a terrorist organization, but of course, with the support of the people, we will show them what the people think in the local elections. As for the Serb List, the Serb List has filed a lawsuit against Self-Determination precisely because of the unfounded complaint they filed against the Serb List,” Radojevic concluded.
At the promotional stands on the Mitrovica promenade today, citizens also met with Serb List candidates for municipal assembly seats: Ivan Zaporozac, Aleksandar Bozovic, Sonja Kasalovic, Nemanja Bisevac, Stefan Markovic, Gordana Savic, Sinisa Lazic, Ruzica Bozovic, Veljko Orlovic, Zoran Jevtic, Sladjan Vukomanovic, Biljana Vukicevic, Branko Dimitrijevic, Suzana Aleksic, Ivan Virijevic, and Ivana Stoisavljevic.
