Simic: We want to return the municipalities in the North to Serbian hands and protect our compatriots in the south

Vice President of the Serb List, Igor Simic, stated that from the very start of the local election campaign, precisely at midnight on September 13, until election day on October 12, the party will not stop in its efforts to win the municipalities in the north and return them to Serbian hands, while also protecting the municipalities south of the Ibar where Serbs are the majority.

“All our municipalities are important, every place where Serbs live,” Simic told TV Prva.

He explained that the Serb List began its campaign in North Mitrovica, because it has always been a bastion of Serbdom and a bulwark of defense of the Serbian people, given that the entire Serbian population seeks treatment in hospitals in that municipality, and that students attend universities there.

“We wanted to send a message that North Mitrovica still stands firm, that it is a symbol of Serbdom and the defense of the interests of the Serbian people, and that three years of the rule of fear and repression by Albin Kurti’s regime over the Serbian people have not extinguished the torch of freedom in northern Kosovo and Metohija. To the pride of all Serbs, we launched the campaign with a magnificent rally of more than 1,500 people,” Simic said.

He noted that the desire is not only for elections themselves, but to liberate the towns in the north.

“To send a clear message that Kurti’s gauleiters will never again govern this municipality. Symbolically, our activists also showed that the countdown to the liberation of the municipalities in the north has begun,” Simic added.

He underlined that the Serb List, as stated at yesterday’s rally, will strive to improve the lives of citizens, protect their fundamental human rights, and stop the persecution of entrepreneurs as well as Serbian families—something that, according to him, has been happening since “false mayors took power.”

He also emphasized that they will work to protect their compatriots south of the Ibar, and through their fight at both the central and local level improve living conditions so that Serbs remain in those areas.

“The energy in the city was palpable; people are yearning for change. You saw the clear messages from the rally. There was also a huge banner, ‘All for Brother Milan,’ which some interpret one way or another. We know very well whom that message was meant for. Our candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica is Milan Radojevic, an honorable Serb who will defend the interests of the Serbian people and preserve this city,” Simic stressed.
