Spahiu: Molliqaj has no chance of entering the Assembly, but will make a good step forward for future elections

Political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu told Kosovo Online that the Social Democratic Party led by Dardan Molliqaj, which will compete in the June 7 elections, has no chance of passing the threshold and entering the Kosovo Assembly, but that it would be a genuine opposition force to Albin Kurti if it became part of parliament.

Spahiu says that Molliqaj is opposed to Kurti, and that during the campaign he has directed his criticism at the opposition, which, in his view, accommodates the leader of Self-Determination and does not fight to take power away from him.

"This is a specific type of campaign. It does not mean that he intends to enter parliament in these elections, but he will certainly make a good step forward for future elections. If, for example, he wins two or three percent of the vote, that will be a success for him," Spahiu told Kosovo Online.

According to him, the main messages of the SDP leader's campaign are that Kosovo is moving toward the dictatorship of Albin Kurti and that this is being enabled by an opposition that is highly corrupt and incapable of effectively challenging Kurti.

"He believes that someone who can stand as an equal opponent to Kurti is needed in order to remove him from power. He would be a genuine opposition figure if he managed to enter parliament," Spahiu assessed.
