Christmas morning in North Mitrovica with wishes for health and peace
Christmas morning in North Mitrovica is traditionally marked by cutting Serbian Christmas trees with old Serbian songs, bread, fish, fasting food, and a glass of plum brandy as a toast to the fruitful year.
This morning, the largest number of citizens decided to go to the forest and cut the Serbian Christmas tree, at least that's what the street vendors say, which are more numerous this year than in previous years.
For those who decided to get up a little later, the people from the surrounding municipalities, primarily Leposavic and Zubin Potok ensured that they could buy the Serbian Christmas trees.
The central street of Kralja Petra is full of vendors and buyers, and as we were told, the Serbian Christmas tree had no price.
"As much as God allows, that's how much the Serbian Christmas tree costs and the customers choose for themselves," the sellers told us.
In addition to the Christmas decorations, there were also various decorations on the stalls, and in addition, there was straw, grain, wine, and everything that should make up a fasting table for Christmas Eve and the reception of the most joyous Christian holiday, Christmas.
The vendors we had talked to said that their wishes were different this year. What they wished for themselves, they had wished for others, above all, health, happiness and peace, and freedom.
