Agon Maliqi: As long as the vast majority of Serbs vote for the Serb List, it will be unavoidable in forming institutions

Political analyst Agon Maliqi pointed out that as long as the Serb List remains the party supported by the overwhelming majority of Serbs, and as long as the law recognizes its activities as legitimate within the Kosovo system, it will remain unavoidable in the formation of institutions, noting that any exclusive action against it would inevitably result in Constitutional Court intervention.

Writing on Facebook, Maliqi stated that “the former opposition continues with a half-hearted approach to decision-making, showing no courage in dealing with Kurti’s populist traps, out of fear of backlash on social media.”

“As long as the Serb List is the party for which the vast majority of Serbs vote, and the law regards its operations as regular within the Kosovo system, it will be unavoidable in the formation of institutions. Consequently, any exclusive action against it will compel intervention by the Constitutional Court,” Maliqi emphasized.

In his view, the only outcome of such maneuvers is the prolongation of a futile drama, the strengthening of the Serb List in the eyes of the Serb community, and the deepening of Kosovo’s negative image “as a country that suppresses minority rights.”
