Albanian Abu Qatada Albani, who is a part of the new government in Syria, said that Kosovo has asked for recognition from Damascus.

Qatada Albani said in a statement to journalist Xhemajko Rexha, who shared it on his Instagram profile, that it is regrettable that such a request came from a very low level, the deputy minister of local self-government.

"At the same time, fortunately and unfortunately, there is a request to the new Syrian government to recognize the independence of Kosovo, but it is unfortunate that this request did not reach the appropriate level, because it was sent by the deputy minister of local self-government, as far as I remember," he said.

As he says, such a request should be made at the presidential or prime ministerial level.
