Ambassador of Turkey to Kosovo, Sabri Tunc Angili, emphasized that a diplomatic solution was needed for lasting stability in northern Kosovo, stating that his country supported the de-escalation process in the north, which, as he said, would open the way for the continuation of dialogue, as reported by Reporteri.

"There is no military solution to this issue. Only a diplomatic solution would ensure lasting stability. Therefore, all parties must work towards progress in the dialogue process. Escalation is not helpful," Angili stated.

Regarding de-escalation in the north, the Turkish ambassador emphasizes that new local elections with the participation of Serbs would contribute to stabilizing the situation on the ground and facilitating negotiations between the two sides.

"Elections in the north with full participation of the Serbian population would provide a necessary basis for substantive negotiations. Turkey will be ready to contribute to this process if both sides want it," he said.

Angili also says that Turkey will always be a reliable partner to Kosovo and that military cooperation with Pristina within NATO does not imply confrontation with any country, including Serbia.

"For now, new military acquisitions are not on our agenda. It is essential that their purpose is defensive, and our defense cooperation fully complies with NATO frameworks, not against any third country, including Serbia," the ambassador said for Telegrafi.
