At NATO's request, Turkey is sending special forces to Kosovo

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that upon the request of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command, a battalion of special forces has been designated, and preparations have begun to transfer Turkish soldiers to the "Sultan Murat" barracks in Kosovo by June 5, as reported by the Anadolu Agency.

In a written statement, the Ministry stated that Turkey continues to contribute to regional and global peace and stability within the framework of UN, NATO, EU, and OSCE missions, and bilateral relations.

In this context, the Ministry stated that they closely monitor the developments in the Balkans, a region with shared historical and cultural values with Turkey.

It is mentioned that Turkey shows a constructive stance and calls on parties to show restraint in resolving recent events in the northern part of the "friendly and brotherly country of Kosovo," which pose a threat to regional security and stability, through the dialogue.

"After the events in Kosovo, upon the request of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command Naples, a battalion of special forces under the command of our 65th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, which had previously been deployed as part of NATO forces in Kosovo, has been designated as a reserve unit, and preparations for its transfer have begun," the statement said.
